Horses

Cowboy

Cowboy is a 16 year old Tri colored Paint Gelding.

He began working as a police mount for St. Paul in 2007.

 He is a bold horse and very curious, 16.1 Hands.

His coat and hair consists of white, brown, and black. He has served the St. Paul Police since 2008. His favorite activity on his off time is galloping and jumping. Horses are vegetarians who’s primary diet consists of water, hay, and oats. Cowboy’s favorite treat is apples.

Cowboy is currently not assigned to anyone right now.


Officer Tommy Handwerk & Rascal

Rascal is an Oldenburg, a warm blood and is 17 hands.

Oldenburg's are the 3rd most popular horse in the Olympics for Jumping.

They are rare in the US, but popular in Europe in the Dressage Community.

He is currently assigned to Officer Andrew Lewis


Javier

Javier is an Appaloosa/Quarter horse mix, 16.2 Hands.

He joined the St. Paul unit in 2012.

He is currently assigned to Officer Chris Hoyt.

He is a very curious horse and loves to snack on apples and carrots.


Moose

Moose is a 10 year old Clydesdale Quarter horse donated from Red Wing.

He is the gentle giant in the herd. He loves eating and conserving his energy.

He's also very brave. In the face of danger and he remains calm and quiet. 

Moose is a true police horse as he enjoys donuts.

If you see him on the street, he loves his neck scratched.

He is currently assigned to Officer Jennifer Mink


Charlie

Charlie is a Thoroughbred/American Spotted Giraffe mix.

He's 8 years old, and came to the unit from Delano, MN. 

Charlie is the youngest in the herd, so he's still learning the ropes.

Charlie's favorite treats are animal crackers.

He is currently assigned to Officer Tommy Handwerk
